Spotted Hyena
These powerful animals are both scavengers and excellent hunters.  They are also very intelligent animals.  One hunting strategy often adopted is for one hyena to cause confusion among a herd whilst others in the pack pick off an older or weaker member.  One look at the thick muscular neck and powerful jaw gives a clear indication of the aggressive nature on this animal.  This one was pictured in the Sarengeti National Park in Tanzania.  Hyena dung is white from the calcium contained in the bones of their prey.
